Space Waye tip, Feltham, opens 8am to 3.30pm every day. No booking Monday to Thursday; book Friday to Sunday and bank holidays. Christmas closures and charges.

Space Waye opening times are simple: the borough’s only household tip is open 8am to 3.30pm, seven days a week. You can turn up without a booking Monday to Thursday. On Friday, Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays you must book a slot online. That is what Hounslow Council’s own booking page said when we read it on 25 September 2026.

For Chiswick it is a long drive: the site is at the far end of the borough, on the North Feltham Trading Estate near Heathrow.

The quick answer

Open 8am to 3.30pm every day. No booking Monday to Thursday; booking required Friday to Sunday and on bank holidays, up to two weeks ahead, with a 30-minute visit. Last Christmas it closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and opened on the other days. The 2026 Christmas arrangements have not been published yet; last year’s appeared in the first half of December.

Where it is

Space Waye Reuse and Recycling Centre, Pier Road, off Faggs Road, North Feltham Trading Estate, Feltham TW14 0TH (Hounslow Council).

When you need to book

The no-booking weekdays began as a six-month trial on Monday 9 March 2026 (Hounslow Council news). Six months ran out in early September. The council has not announced whether the trial becomes permanent, but its booking page still carries the Monday to Thursday rule, so that is the rule in force until it says otherwise. The council also warns there can still be queues on the no-booking days.

On a booking day you book online up to two weeks ahead, giving your address and the car’s registration (enter HIRE for a hire car). You can arrive during your slot or up to ten minutes after it ends, but no later.

The limits

  • Visits are capped at 30 minutes, and at twice a day and three times a week.
  • Staff cannot help you lift. Bring only what you and a passenger can unload.
  • The booking system is for cars without a trailer. Vans and trailers, and anyone on foot or on a bike, have separate arrangements; foot and cycle visits are booked by emailing spacewaye@hounslow.gov.uk, at least 24 hours ahead for a Tuesday to Friday visit and before 3pm on the Friday for a Saturday, Sunday or Monday visit.

The trade area, which also handles residents in vans and anyone with chargeable waste, has closed at short notice several times this year for flooding and a mechanical fault. Check the council’s booking page on the morning you go.

What is free, what costs money, what is refused

From the council’s what you can bring page:

  • Free: wood, garden waste, furniture, electrical items including fridges and freezers, batteries, textiles and shoes, and the usual household recycling.
  • Mattresses: up to two free. More than two, even spread over several visits, is treated as trade waste at £12 a mattress.
  • DIY waste: up to two 50-litre sacks free per visit, one such visit a week. Beyond that it is £205 a tonne, with a £41 minimum for up to 200kg. That covers rubble, bricks, paving, plasterboard, fence panels, fitted kitchens and similar.
  • Not accepted: tyres, asbestos, large amounts of gloss paint, accelerants such as lighter fluid, and hard plastics (garden furniture, storage boxes, piping, plant pots).

Christmas and New Year

The 2026/27 festive hours are not published yet. Last year the council’s Christmas page said Space Waye would be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day (Hounslow Council, archived 20 December 2025), and open as normal on the days in between.

This year the calendar is different. Christmas Day is a Friday, the Boxing Day bank holiday moves to Monday 28 December, and New Year’s Day is a Friday (GOV.UK). Friday is already a booking day, and so is any bank holiday that the site opens on, so expect to need a slot for most of the days between Christmas and New Year.

Space Waye also doubled as a real Christmas tree drop-off point last year. Our Christmas bin collections page has the tree collections and the revised rounds, and will be updated when the council publishes 2026.

What is still to be confirmed

  • Christmas 2026 opening days. Expected in the first half of December, on the council’s Christmas waste page.
  • Whether the no-booking weekday trial is made permanent. Not announced as of 25 September 2026.

For the weekly collections and the four-box system, see our bin collection days page. For road closures on the way to Feltham, check roadworks and travel.
