Halloween is a Saturday this year. Kew's light trail from £19.50, an £18 Zombie Train in Brentford, Osterley films and £2 Gunnersbury trails, all checked.

Halloween falls on Saturday 31 October this year, the end of Hounslow’s October half term (26 to 30 October). The biggest thing within reach of Chiswick is Halloween at Kew, an after-dark trail through the gardens from 16 October to 1 November, with one of its three entrances at Brentford Gate. Closer to home, Brentford’s steam museum runs a family Halloween Train and an adults’ Zombie Train, Osterley has a free gardens trail and two outdoor Halloween films, and Gunnersbury has the cheapest option of all, a £2 trail.

Everything below was read on the organisers’ own pages on 3 October 2026, and each entry links back to its source.

Biggest: Halloween at Kew, 16 October to 1 November, adults from £19.50 off peak, last entry 8.30pm, expected to sell out. Halloween at Kew, 16 October to 1 November

Kew’s after-dark trail is back for a third year (Kew Gardens). It runs from 6pm to 10pm from 16 to 24 October, then 4pm to 10pm from 25 October to 1 November, so the half-term week has earlier, lighter slots. Last entry is strictly 8.30pm.

  • Prices: non-member adults £19.50 off peak or £24 peak; members £16.75 or £20.55. Kew says family and child tickets are available but does not print their prices on the event page.
  • How scary: Kew sorts the slots into three. Daylight (up to 6pm) suits very young children, Twilight (6pm to 7.30pm) is a notch up, and Moonlight (after 7.30pm) is “as scary as it gets (but still suitable for all)”. On the trail are Dracula, fire performers, the Headless Horseman and a new cursed tomb.
  • Getting in: only Victoria Gate, Elizabeth Gate and Brentford Gate, so choose the right one when you book. Bikes, scooters and skateboards must be left at the gates.
  • Book ahead. Entry is timed, Kew expects the event to sell out, and tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded. The £1 Universal Credit and Pension Credit ticket does not apply.

Brentford: a Halloween Train and a Zombie Train

The London Museum of Water and Steam, Green Dragon Lane, TW8 0EN, is open every day of half term, Monday 26 to Friday 30 October (Halloween Train).

  • Halloween Train, Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October on the museum’s what’s on listing: a ride round the site in a decorated carriage behind the museum’s steam locomotive. It costs £1 a ride on top of admission, and the ride is free if you come in costume (the museum says 26 to 31 October). The museum stresses this one is for families, with no scare actors.
  • Also that week: a £2 Halloween scavenger hunt from the front desk, on sale from Saturday 24 October while supplies last, and a paper-pumpkin craft in the Waterworks Gallery included in admission.
  • Zombie Train: Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, £18 a person. Scare actors, an “immersive” train ride booked in a 20-minute slot, a bar, music and the museum open late. It is aimed at adults, but accompanied under 18s who do not mind being scared are welcome.

Osterley Park: a free trail and two films

The National Trust’s Osterley events listing carries three Halloween events:

For both films fancy dress is encouraged and picnics are welcome; no dogs except guide dogs. Booking is essential, through a link on each event page, and the Trust does not print the ticket price on its listing, so we are not quoting one.

One warning: the Trust’s individual event pages sometimes show a security check page instead of the event. The main events listing linked above shows all three.

Gunnersbury Park: the cheapest Halloween in W4

Gunnersbury Park and Museum, Popes Lane, runs a Halloween season through half term (Gunnersbury events):

Gunnersbury also has a free relaxed “Spooky Season” morning on Monday 26 October for children and young people with additional needs; our October half term page has that and the rest of the week’s workshops and camps.

Chiswick House: a Halloween art workshop

Chiswick House and Gardens’ main Halloween booking is Cygnets Art School: Magic and Mischief, Tuesday 27 to Thursday 29 October, 10.30am to 2pm, in the Learning Hub. It is for ages 5 and up: magical portals in watercolour and “The Coyote Who Stole The Moon” in gouache, with all equipment provided. £30 a half day, £55 a day or £150 for all three. Spaces are limited. The gardens themselves are free and open daily.

Not confirmed yet: Hounslow Lights

The council’s free Hounslow Lights evening at Lampton Park rolls Halloween, Diwali and fireworks into one night. It was held on the last Saturday of October in 2024 and 2025, which this year would be Halloween itself. The council had published no 2026 date when we checked on 3 October: its events page still shows only the summer’s Films on the Green. Our fireworks page will carry it as soon as it does, along with Chiswick Rugby Club’s bonfire night on 7 November.

Getting there and parking

None of these organisers publishes a parking plan or a road closure for its Halloween events. If you are driving round Chiswick, our parking page covers the controlled zones and what the bays cost, and the roadworks and travel page carries the closures in force. For the rest of the month, see what’s on in Chiswick.
